Here's a LONG LOOOOOOOONG Overdue Retake of these very famous elevators located at one of two original WDW Resort Hotels! Since I last came here, these elevators got New Cabs AND character voices were added!
Considering how expensive it is to stay at this hotel per night, I do definitely think the new Cabs COULD be nicer, but at the same time they do look a lot more modern than the old ones did which looked quite dated. Which is funny, cause this place is called the Contemporary after all! Speed wise these elevators are pretty quick at 600 FPM, and MIRACULOUSLY we got multiple round trips on these to ourselves which is NOT the norm for riding the elevators at this hotel! I do definitely wish these were still Elevonic 401s to this day of course, but this mod while generic isn't terrible and I do think these elevators look a lot better now that they've updated the cabs. And the character voices are cool too! And for that, I hope you enjoy my long overdue retake of these FAMOUS Elevators at a VERY ICONIC Hotel! :)
Installed in 1971. (Otis VIP-260 with Square Touch/Heat Sensitive buttons)
Modernized:
1st Modernization in Circa 1983-1985. (Otis Elevonic 401 with Series 1 fixtures, New Cabs, New Motors, New Controllers, New Lanterns, New Doortracks, etc. Exterior doors and indicators left as is.)
2nd Modernization in 2012-2013. (Otis Series M2 Elevonic 411M mod with New fixtures, New Controllers, New Motors and New Exterior indicators and lanterns. Cabs and outside doors left as is.)
Cabs overhauled in 2021-2022.
