Written by City News Service - Three brush fires in the Cleveland National
Forest destroyed two unoccupied cabins and burned two acres today before being
extinguished by firefighters, fire officials said.
A structure fire in Holy Jim Canyon was reported at 6:04 p.m. and the
flames were extinguished about 45 minutes later, said Capt. Steve Concialdi of
the Orange County Fire Authority. The cabins were unoccupied, he said.
About 100 firefighters knocked down two nearby brush fires by a little
after 9 p.m., said spokeswoman Lynnette Round of the fire authority.
Fire crews will remain on scene overnight to make sure nothing rekindles
a fire, Round said.
Live Oak Canyon and Trabuco Creek roads leading into Holy Jim Canyon
remain closed, but there were no evacuations, according to the fire authority.
One person suffered minor burn injuries, but declined further treatment,
Round said.
Cleveland National Forest officials will be working with fire
investigators to determine the cause of the brush fires, she said. LOUDLABS NEWS
