Basic Costumes can be purchased from the Guild Prestige shop for 200 Prestige, or from Mirage Isle for either 200 Gilda Stars or 100 Loyalty Tokens. These bases come in four types, depending on what you want to use them for: Melee, Ranged, Magic, or Healing.
Choose the Basic Costume that works the best for your class, as it will generate statistics depending on its type. The pool of options it can pull from at first are limited, For example, when the Melee Basic Costume is starting out, it can gain statistics like Max Health, Physical Defense, Magic Defense, Move Speed, Stealth Detection, PvE Melee Skill Increase, Backstab Melee Damage Increase, or Received Damage Reductions.
When worn in your costume slot, Basic Costumes don’t change the way you look. If you love the armor you’re wearing, don’t worry about the Basic Costume covering it up! If you already have a costume you love, fear not, you’ll be able to still use it with this new system.
Go Beyond Basic — Utilize Synthium Stones!
Once you have the Basic Costume in your possession, it will need an infusion of Synthium in order to level up from Basic to Grand and gain its first statistic. Synthium can be found in the dropped purses, bags, and safes from all monsters in Auroria, and directly from Mistsong Summit monsters and World Bosses. PLUS greater dungeons!
You’ll normally see Synthium drop as Shards, and 10 Clear Synthium Shards can be melded to make one Clear Synthium Stone! Once you have two Stones in your possession, you can fuse them into your Basic Costume and give it experience. If you do not possess two stones, you will not be able to execute an infusion with only one! Give it enough experience and it will increase in grade.
Costumes will gain a new statistic at the Grand, Arcane, and Heroic grades. Again, these statistics will be drawn randomly from a pool of statistics that are related to your Basic Costume choice, and that pool of options will increase as the costume reaches higher grades. If you get a choice you don’t like, you will also be able to re-roll one of the statistics on the costume each time it increases in grade, allowing you to drop statistics you want to avoid.
As the costume gains experience, the statistics it possesses will increase. So even if you can’t reach the next level, you should still add to your costume’s experience in order to increase your effectiveness.
Higher grades of costume will begin requiring crafted versions of Synthium Stones. These crafted recipes depend on the Alchemy vocation, and require Clear Synthium Stones as a base. Starting at the Rare grade, you’ll need Vivid Synthium Stones to continue to upgrade your Basic Costume.
If the crafting and gathering options aren’t up your alley, you can always buy the Stones from your fellow Adventurers on the Auction House, or by making use of your Loyalty Points to buy them from the Loyalty Shop.
Synthesis system will be limited to making Heroic grade Basic Costumes. However, it will expand with future updates to the game and eventually allow players to reach Mythic level stats.
To remove the look, you’ll need an Extraction Alembic, which you can pick up from the General Merchant for 100g or the ArcheAge Marketplace. Using the Extraction Alembic, you’ll recover the Costume back to your inventory, and your Basic Costume will return to its normal, invisible state.
Finally, Don’t Forget to Do Your Laundry!
There’s only one thing in the world of Erenor that can stifle the arcane power – of magical attire: dirt! From here on out, if you want to keep making use of the statistics on your costume, you’ll need to do your laundry.
When your Basic Costume is first worn, the statistics will go into a dormant mode after 30 days. The stats won’t be removed from the costume — you just won’t benefit from them for the time being. In order to unlock the stats once more, you’ll need to acquire a Synthium Soap from the General Merchant for 120g or from the ArcheAge Store.
Once your costume is cleaned and dried, the magical power within will reactivate and the 30 day timer will begin once more. Remember: clean clothes DO have class!
