In this Sixty Second Tutorial we cover how you can use Adjustment Layers in Adobe After Effects, we look at the following...

1. Adjustment layers can be used in After Effects to easily apply effects to all items in a composition.

2. In this example we have two separate video clips, each taking up half the screen.

3. To create a new Adjustment Layer go to Layer - New - Adjustment Layer.

4. The Adjustment Layer will be added to your composition, make sure that it stays as the top layer in your composition, otherwise effects will not be applied to clips below.

5. A circular symbol will also appear which shows this is an Adjustment Layer, if you click and take away the symbol After Effects will no longer view this layer as an Adjustment Layer, so ensure it stays selected.

6. You can now add effects on to the adjustment layer, such as color correction or blurring and this will be applied to all the layers below in your composition.

7. If you unselect the eye icon this will turn off your adjustment layer in your composition. To turn the adjustment layer back on, simply turn on the eye icon again.
