We can’t unlock this device because is still under contract. AT&T Locked iPhone What to do?
We tried to unlock an iPhone 12 Model A2172 Carrier Lock - SIM Locked with AT&T using the AT&T Unlock Portal ( https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ ) and we got the message:
"We can’t unlock this device because the device is still under contract. Sign into your account to review your contract. To pay the early termination fee and unlock the device, call 800.331.0500 or dial 611 from your wireless device. You can submit a new unlock request 24 hours after your payment posts to your account."
When we try to use a Mint Mobile SIM card on the AT&T iPhone we got this other message: "SIM Not Supported" so we called the AT&T Customer Service number: 800.331.0500 and the representative told us they can't do anything about it since we don't have access to the original contract.
The only good thing about all this is that we know we can still activate the iPhone on the AT&T Network or any other Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) that use the AT&T Network because the iPhone is not Blacklisted, you can check if your iPhone's IMEI is blacklisted by going to this site: https://www.imeipro.info/
