Horror body-cam clip shows police officer's face slashed by drug-crazed thug
PC Steve Reid was savagely attacked by Richard Jefford, 39, after he was called to the scene of a robbery in Derby - suffering horrific injuries that narrowly missed his eyes.
The officer of 20 years and his newly-qualified colleague PC Ronnie Korbiel had arrived at an address on Slack Lane and went to arrest the suspect.
But Jefford suddenly pulled out a flick knife and swung at PC Reid, slashing him twice across the face, narrowly missing his eye.
Disturbing footage captured the moment the officer was viciously attacked and he can be heard calling out: "I've been assaulted, he's got a weapon.
