I've taken some time away from work this week just to unwind a bit as I have a tendency to take on lots of work and get myself completely fatigued. 5 days in and I've started to relax a bit! I've been in and out of the studio all week but not much has been happening apart from organising and dozing in front of the wood burner.
Today though after spending several hours experimenting with combinations of Volca Modular, SQ1 and Bastl Kaslte Drum and almost giving up I finally found something to pursue quite late in the day, hence the hasty camera angle.
In this jam the SQ1 is controlling the Bastl Kastle Drum with CV routed to the Drum input to move between different sounds and the Gate output connected to Trigger In, the other Kastle is just there to turn a 3.5mm socket into pin out routing Gate Out B to Clock In of the LFO to get some synced modulation going. The Volca Modular is producing the bassline and the Pocket Operator Rhythm is providing kicks and hihats.
I spent quite a lot of time trying to get the Kaslte Drum to perform all the drum parts but I've decided it's better in a support role alongside something more predictable. It's more like electronic percussion than drums I'd say.
