Do you have a vertical video on your computer that you want to upload as a YouTube Short? In this video, I show you how to upload YouTube Shorts from your PC or Laptop correctly in 2026.
Many creators get confused because there is no specific "Upload Short" button on the desktop version of YouTube Studio. I will show you the exact settings, aspect ratio, and duration limits you need so YouTube automatically recognizes your file as a Short.
In this video, I cover:
The Format: Why your video MUST be 9:16 (Vertical) or 1:1 (Square).
The Duration: The new 2026 limits (Up to 3 minutes vs. 60 seconds).
The Desktop Advantage: How to link a "Related Video" to drive traffic to your long-form content (Desktop exclusive!).
The Upload Process: Step-by-step guide using YouTube Studio.
Steps to Upload Shorts from PC:
Log in to YouTube Studio.
Click Create (Camera Icon) Upload Video.
Drag and drop your vertical video file (Must be 1080x1920 or similar).
Add #Shorts in the title or description (optional now, but still good for SEO).
Pro Tip: In the "Details" tab, scroll right to "Related Video" and link a long-form video!
Publish! YouTube will display the "Shorts" icon on the confirmation screen if you did it right.
