This media is unique and the most innovative media I have ever seen in my many years of aquatic retailing.
It combines the huge surface area of sintered glass media with the ability to behave as a moving bed media.
The hardened exterior allows for tough media which will not wear like standard high surface area glass media and still allows access to the honeycomb interior which supports bacteria constantly trying to colonise the outer surface, ensuring that millions of healthy, vigorous bacteria are always available to consume ammonia and nitrite.
Whilst obviously more expensive than plastic media (e.g. K1 and Hel-x) it compares favourably with other high surface area media - and can be used in a moving bed to boost efficiency.
The outside of the media has flecks of hardened montmorillonite clay which has been used for years by koi keepers to condition water with recognised results. This coating will be gradually removed by the bumping action of a moving bed filter so the media begins to condition water from the moment it enters the filter.
Supplied with free gel bacteria balls to promote the rapid set-up of bacteria on the media.
