Building Material: Admixtures Part 1
Admixture is defined as a material other than cement, water and aggregates, that is used an ingredient of concrete and is added to batch immediately before or during mixing.
Admixtures are used in concrete to improve a certain property of concrete.
The properties which are commonly modified by adding admixture are rate of hydration, setting time, workability, dispersion and air entrainment.
Generally the quantity of admixture added is small.
