South Korea Has Proposed A Bill To Legalize Same-Sex Marriage
South Korea has proposed a bill to legalize same-sex marriage.
Currently, same-sex marriage is not recognized in South Korea, where marriage is defined as based on “equality of the sexes”.
If the bill passes, same-sex couples will be able to get married and receive the same rights as heterosexual married couples.
Another bill proposing civil partnerships has also been proposed as an alternative to marriage.
This comes after South Korea’s supreme court recognized the rights of same-sex couples for the first time in February, when it ruled that its national health insurance must cover same-sex partners.
