Dockerising the Discord Bot, container inheritance & minimal containers
In todays episode, I show how a couple of minor changes to the application setup makes dockerisation easier, and the basic process of dockerising the application. Using Docker allows a more controlled deployment process, but the first step is in making a working docker container.
Because this is being deployed onto a pi, the build script is added to the repo and just run on to the pi before running the container, which is definitly a 'poor mans' way of doing it, but for a hobbiest works well.
Python is a wonderful language to code in, because its very clear which makes it maintainable. On top of that, Django is an excellent framework, allowing both rapid development, but also with low technical debt when it comes to filling out a production ready application.
