Scout Olympic Pop Up Build Walkthrough | Capable and Not Overkill
The Scout Olympic Pop Up is one of the most capable and comfortable truck campers we build on, and this Ram 2500 setup is a great example of getting it right without going overkill. This is one of our shop trucks at Truck Camper Garage, put together to do a little of everything and do it well, without piling on gear it doesn't need just to drive through the woods.
In this walkthrough we cover what makes this rig work as a complete package:
Off-road: the pop-up design keeps weight and center of gravity low, and the Fox 2.5 Performance Elite shocks make a real difference on rough roads and off pavement. The truck stays composed where a lot of setups start to feel it.
Long-distance highway: balanced and stable at speed, comfortable enough to eat up interstate miles to the trailhead.
Livability: this is where the build earns its keep. The Scout Olympic is set up to actually live in, with a factory diesel heater that keeps it warm through cold nights and shoulder-season trips, so the weather doesn't decide when you go home, and a real bed up top you can stretch out and sleep on. On top of that, the mods we added make it a place you actually want to spend time. We fit it with a larger water tank, a Camplux hot water shower, and a CompoCloset Cuddy Lite composting toilet, so you can stay out longer and stay comfortable doing it.
Connected and equipped: Starlink for internet anywhere, plus a roof rack for hauling the extra gear.
These are the upgrades we handled in-house, and they're what tie the whole setup together. Nothing excessive, just the right pieces to make it work well.
