The Flamin' Groovies somehow eluded me for YEARS. I discuss and review this extremely underrated band and their best albums.
Flamin' Groovies is an American rock band that formed in San Francisco in 1965, known for their influential melodic garage rock music Originally co-led by Roy Loney and Cyril Jordan, they are pioneers of the Post/Proto Punk genre that would become big in the 80's.
Mick Jagger compared the Teenage Head LP favorably to the Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers, released just a month apart. Jagger reportedly thought the Flamin' Groovies did the better take on the theme of classic blues and rock 'n roll revisited in an early 1970's context.
