Creating a Bootable USB Flash Drive with Rufus and FreeDOS
We need:
Rufus Portable as an USB stick formatter:

A FreeDOS copy of your preference, which can contain anything you want, for example this one with just the kernel and the console program:

Here we use Rufus to format the USB stick with FreeDOS, then we delete all of the files that Rufus copied to the USB drive (here we are only interested in the master boot record and the partition boot sector), and just copy our own FreeDOS files. Now we can boot by selecting the USB drive as the boot device.
The FreeDOS ZIP we've included here contains KERNEL.SYS, IO.SYS and IBMIO.SYS, as well as COMMAND.COM. The intention is trying to use possible memory sticks that could boot FreeDOS directly with one of those first 3 kernel names, although it should probably be activated to boot by other means. It will be useful if a particular memory stick really needs to keep its partition structure, for example, memories that are multimedia players too.
