Greta (Keira Knightley) and Dave (Adam Levine), high school sweethearts and both singer-songwriters, move to New York when he receives an offer from a music industry giant. Fame, and the many temptations that accompany it, drive Dave crazy and strain their relationship.
In the glittering metropolis full of opportunity, Gretta meets Dan (Mark Ruffalo), a record label executive who happens to see her perform in the East Village and is immediately struck by her natural talent.
