Using Metadata – Building better applications one class/module at a time.
In this session we will look at SQL DMV’s and System views to understand what metadata is available to help us document our data repositories. Armed with that knowledge we will see how to build an access application to utilize this metadata to generate code which can be used in classes and/or modules.
The principles we will see today can be applied to any backend data source (not just SQL Server) which exposes metadata to create classes/and modules for any front end (not just Access).
BIOGRAPHY
Kim Young has worked with SQL Server starting with version 4.2 and Microsoft Access2.0. She is the founder of the PASS Chicago Suburban SQL Server User Group and a past VP of the Chicago Access User Group (CAUG). Also experienced in NOSQL platforms such as Raven and Cosmos and front-end development using .Net, Microsoft Access, Office and Salesforce she has built and deployed applications globally in multiple industries across various functional areas. These include Energy, Insurance, Manufacturing. Healthcare, Logistics, Supply Chain, Legal, Financial Services and Real Estate. Kim is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt candidate who is passionate about processes. Fall in love with the problem, not the solution.
