A Ukrainian refugee in Switzerland must repay €72,000 in social assistance due to a Porsche. The 40-year-old Ukrainian refugee settled in the canton of Vaud in the summer of 2022 and received €72,000 in social assistance since then. However, it was later discovered that the Ukrainian owned a Porsche Cayenne worth €40,000, took expensive trips around Europe, and conducted financial transactions in euros through several bank accounts. He claimed to have booked the plane tickets for friends and that the vacation expenses were at their request, but the court rejected this explanation. In Switzerland, those claiming social assistance are required to adhere to the following rules: personal vehicles are considered part of the property and must be sold before receiving benefits.
