The Rostov-on-Don Boeing 737 crash was a major aviation accident that occurred on the night of Saturday, March 19, 2016.
The Flydubai Boeing 737-8KN (IATA - FZ, ICAO - FDB, tail number: A6-FDN) was operating scheduled passenger flight FZ981 (call sign: Sky Dubai 981) en route from Dubai (ICAO: OMDB) to Rostov-on-Don (ICAO: URRR). Over the course of two hours, it attempted to land at Rostov-on-Don Airport twice in adverse weather conditions. After the second unsuccessful attempt, the aircraft entered a steep descent while climbing, crashed at high speed, and was completely destroyed near the runway of Rostov-on-Don Airport. All 62 people on board—55 passengers and 7 crew members—were killed.
