Now we will convert a list into a SmartArt diagram. Notice that I said convert and not insert. I think a big mistake that some people could make is inserting a SmartArt diagram over a list instead of converting a list into a SmartArt diagram.
To convert SmartArt:
Highlight your list or content placeholder that contains the list
In the Home tab, click the convert to SmartArt drop arrow to choose a SmartArt layout type. You can click the More SmartArt button to bring up all of the SmartArt options like we did before
Choose the “Group List” layout option
Choose the “polished” Smart Art style
We can also convert any textbox into Smart Art as well, let’s do this for our title to make it pop out more.
Highlight the textbox, and then click the “convert to SmartArt” button in the home tab
Then we can choose a layout: Let’s choose the “Varying Width List” as it seems to really make the title pop out
Add the “inset” style
Now you know how to convert a list and text inside of a textbox into SmartArt!
