My laptop battery drains even when it's turned off.
Recently, several subscribers have commented on another video that their laptop batteries are draining, sometimes even shutting down completely. This would be normal when the computer is on, but it happens when it's off.
The culprit is "Fast Startup," which is enabled by default in some Windows 10 and 11 models. While this option can be useful because it makes your computer boot up faster, it does drain the battery. You can disable it like this:
1:37 DISABLE FAST STARTUP:
1. Click on "Start" and search for "Control Panel."
2. Go to "Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\System Settings."
3. Uncheck the box next to "Turn on fast startup," and that's it. From now on, when you click "Shut down," your computer will shut down completely.
2:53 MISSING FAST STARTUP OPTION:
If the "Fast Startup" option is missing, it's because hibernation is not enabled. You can enable it by clicking "Start," typing "cmd," and then selecting "Run as administrator" and pasting the command "powercfg.exe /h on."
