Austrian psychotherapist and writer Viktor Frankl is believed to have coined the term "Sunday neurosis," which describes the depressed state and feeling of emptiness that people often experience at the end of the work week. Frankl noted that this state arises from the so-called existential vacuum, characterized by a feeling of boredom, apathy, and emptiness. The person experiences doubt, a loss of purpose, and meaning. Viktor Frankl identified existential neurosis with a crisis of the meaninglessness of life.
