Welcome to the TYCon Webinar Series, a monthly series created to bring together students and young professionals from Chinese American backgrounds to discuss culture, business, politics, identity, and more.

In this month’s webinar, we explore the world of consulting with two professionals from McKinsey & Company, diving into career paths, recruiting strategies, and what the job actually looks like day-to-day.

From transitioning out of STEM backgrounds to navigating competitive recruiting pipelines, our speakers share honest insights into how they broke into consulting and what it takes to succeed in the industry.

To help us unpack these topics, we’re joined by:

Susan Zhao — Consultant at McKinsey & Company (Life Sciences). Susan studied biology and economics at Columbia University and previously worked in biotech research before transitioning into consulting.

Richie Liu — Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company. Richie graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and has over 8 years of experience in consulting, specializing in life sciences and market access strategy.

Moderated by:

Tatiana Nazlymov — Director of Professional & Educational Programs at TYCon, Junior at Princeton studying Public Policy and International Affairs

Raymond Yao — Second-year Electrical Engineering student at UC Irvine and SoCal Regional Lead for TYCon
