Be Breast Aware!

Knowing your breasts and what’s normal for you could save your life. Here ‪@doctorsayyada‬ shares how to check your breasts and explains some of the symptoms of breast cancer.

So what should you be aware of?
Know what is normal for you
Know what changes to look and feel for
Report any changes to your GP without delay
Attend for routine screening if you are between 50 and 71 years old

What breast changes should you look out for?
A change in the size or shape
A change in the look or feel of your skin such as puckering, dimpling, or rash
A new lump
Nipple discharge or bleeding
Change in nipple appearance or inversion
Any discomfort or pain in one breast (this isn’t usually a sign of breast cancer but it’s important to get it checked)

Check your breasts regularly and at different times of your menstrual cycle. Know what is normal for you so you can recognise any abnormal changes, and contact your GP practice if you notice any changes.
