R6 engine mount thread repair
My son crashed his R6 and damaged the crash bung on the right side. I repaired that without too much difficulty. I then decided to replace the bolt on the left side so it was the same as the right side. The old one came out but with difficulty as I think it was cross threaded. I managed to get the old helicoil insert out, cleaned up the insert thread in the head, and wound in a new insert. Due to damage in the head the insert did not install properly which led to this little saga. What I needed was a way to keep the insert pitch correct as it was screwed in which would hopefully also result in the insert being in the thread properly. I ended up making a bolt with the end ground to drive the insert whilst allowing it to be reversed out once the insert was installed. I also replaced the manky bits of aluminium with one machined piece.
