Franco Corelli on Alan Wagner's radio show, 'Living Opera'
(New York Public Radio)
c. February 1961
Isn't it refreshing sometimes to hear a confident, proud Franco talk for a change? And he had every reason to be, since at the beginning of '61 he was by all standards at the top of the operatic world, and stayed there for many years!🙌🥰🍾🥂
This interview is also interesting because he talks about some of his never realised plans, such as a studio recording of La Bohème, the then still planned Guglielmo Tell season opener at La Scala, L'africaine, Puritani, and of course Otello in 5-6-7 years...
Count Lanfranco Rasponi (Franco's press agent and author of the famed book 'The Last Prima Donnas') is translating.
Please if anyone knows the source (or any additional information) of the photo I used in the video, let me know!
