Your old Android phone is not useless — it's an untapped workstation. In this video, I take my Xiaomi K20 Pro, install a full Ubuntu Linux desktop on it, connect it to my monitor, and use it as a complete dual-screen setup alongside Windows — all without Samsung DeX, no root required, and no extra hardware.
Here's what I built with just a phone, a USB cable, and a PC:
— Full Ubuntu Linux desktop with file manager, themes, and macOS-style UI
— Ollama running open-source LLMs directly on the phone's CPU
— Claude Code inside VS Code — built an ML model on Iris dataset with zero manual coding
— Windows + Linux running side by side on a single monitor
— Full Android desktop mode with Play Store access and Android game support
This works on ANY Android phone — OnePlus, Samsung, Vivo, Xiaomi, old or new.
