When the gaze becomes creation.
Using an analysis of works by Rainer Maria Rilke, Vasco Araújo, and other authors who explore the boundaries between seeing, saying, and imagining, we will explore the notion of ekphrasis: the practice of verbally recreating a visual work, be it painting, sculpture, photography, or installation. Instead of mere description, ekphrasis will be approached as reinvention: a way of translating images into language, producing meanings that did not exist before.
