I got questions like: Can I replace my motherboard without reinstalling windows? or: Replacing motherboard how does that work with windows 10.
BEFORE you install a new motherboard and CPU, and you upgraded your windows 7 or 8 to windows 10, watch this video, it will explain what you need to do to make it as smooth as possible.

In short:
add a Microsoft account, install the creators update and THEN replace your motherboard/CPU.

if you did the MS account, and then upgraded your motherboard (as I did) the only way to fix it is the phone activation. I was helped by Microsoft chat support, on showing of my valid windows 7 key. He tried a couple of things and eventually came down to doing a phone activation (but he did it for me).
