Transiting a Tornado GR4 from RAF Lossiemouth to RAF Marham. Coasting out over the North Sea close to St Andrews before plugging the burners in and sweeping the wings back to let the jet do it's thing. Started at around 400 Knots, but the video begins as we accelerate through 500 knots. Takes around 8 seconds to go from 500 to 600 knots and a further 7 seconds to break the Mach. Notice the condensation flow field alongside the cockpit and the crazy altimeter unwinding to minus 2,000 feet or so as it struggles with the supersonic shockwave outside the airframe. Fuel is being consumed at around 600 kg per minute. Boooom
