QUEEN REPLACEMENT 2024, HALF THE APIARY IS SWARMING! WE'RE LATE AGAIN...
Our bees began to swarm, but we were late again. The colonies had gained significant strength, and the supers didn't save us. The purebred Carnica bees successfully left our apiary. According to our estimates, four colonies are in swarming mode, colonies that have already begun to fill the first half-frames with honey. We really didn't want to weaken them, divide them, or anything like that; we wanted strong colonies. But as a result, after gaining strength, the colonies swarmed without even having time to occupy some of the super frames. The queen probably felt the limited space, and our hives are 10-frame, and decided to leave.
We decided not to disturb these colonies, hoping for signs of the breed, but as usual, beekeeping is very unpredictable and constantly presents surprises.
Meanwhile, we're changing queens. This year, our local queen breeder, Alexander, suggested we try his material. He's located in Vyksa, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. We've left his contact information below for those interested:
