Today we’re heading to a local favourite hiding in plain sight — Krua Khun Pa Southern Food ร้านครัวคุณภา. This place is absolutely packed from the minute they open until the shutters come down, and unless you’re local, you’ve probably never heard of it.
Specialising in fiery Southern Thai food from Trang province, this is the real deal. We’re talking dozens of khao gaeng curry rice dishes, unbeatable prices, and of course, the star of the show — Trang Moo Yang. That’s five spice roasted pork belly, crispy, tender, and full of flavour. This is the only place I know of in Bangkok that’s still selling proper Trang Moo Yang, and they do it right.
We’re out on the western outskirts of Bangkok on Ratchapruek Road, so if you’re venturing out this far, make sure to swing by Wat Saphan Floating Market just across the road. It’s a great little local spot to explore before or after you eat.
