UNDO (Short Film)
A short film by Morteza Halimi, Undo is about Max who creates a machine that can undo things. His journey to madness begins when he undoes his own unborn baby by mistake.
Screened as part of MonsterFest 2020 in Australia, this short film was an experiment, for me, to take the viewer on a fun ride with lots of twists and turns that are unexpected, yet each turn takes the audience and the story into a deeper state. I didn't want the viewer to say "i saw that coming", but rather say; "wow that was new!".
Looking back at it now, there are moments that could have improved a lot in the writing stage. But overall, this film was to scratch a lot of creative itch in myself and the production with the talented cast and crew was a very enjoyable ride. And I hope the film is an enjoyable experience for the viewer as well.
Also elements in the story were inspired by some of my favorite films, Pi by Darren Aronofsky, Poltergeist by Tom Hooper, Videodrome by David Cronenberg, and also a bit of Adventure Time by Pendleton Ward.
