About Angie
Angie opened her own salon in 1982, by the name of Angie’s Salon & Institute. Angie has had her formal training for hair styling from Vidalsasoon in London and for make-up, from the London School of Make-up. Keeping in view the changing trends of today, she later went for refreshers to Bangkok and London.
Talking about the trends in make-up today, Angie says that very subtle and natural looks are in. “Brides, today, want to look themselves. Using subtle tones to enhance their face, bringing out the best in them and still looking natural. But it should not be less, as people look at the bride from a distance. And of course it shouldn’t look as if the face has been painted”.
According to Angie, make-up is an art, just like canvas and painting without really overdoing it. She says that the most important thing is to understand what the client wants, with regard to whether it suits them or not.
For herself, she goes for the natural look with prominent eye make-up. When it comes to hairstyles, Angie says that very few people go for the daring looks. In fact only a certain class of people go for it.
Talking about success, Angie says that the right kind of dealing and good relations with client makes one successful. One should build trust by satisfying the client with one’s work, and if criticized, one should take it positively.
Angie believes that even if people trust her, she likes to discuss it first with her client before trying anything new.
Angie is also providing workshops for professional beautician. She is also conducting personal grooming classes, professional courses in hair dying and make up.
