Normal distribution or gaussian distribution or sometimes even called bell curve is a symetric distribution where most of the values are centered arounf the peak. Outliers are typically distributed around the tails of the distribution
First thing is most data are not normally distributed
While not every distribution is normal and it is not expected to be as well, Some statistical tests expects data to be normal distributed (t-tests, Anova or Linear regression residuals)
