"Little Lisa? Who Dis? Read on!
Little Lisa was the daughter of Motown songwriter, Kay Lewis. She was quite young when she cut a few songs for Hitsville U.S.A. in the classic Detroit Snake Pit. For such a young girl, she had an endearing style that avoided all the potential Cutesy-Ootsy pitfalls that most kid singers fell into. If anything, Lisa Miller sounded VERY confident and years beyond her age.
"Choo Choo Train" was one of a KaBillion songs recorded by artists at Motown that never got a hearing from the public until recent years. Don't be foolish in believing this has anything to do with lack of quality (and if anyone wants to dispute that this song is good, please do it elsewhere!) It is easy to forget that Motown was a family business that had to be very strategic in where its promotion money went, so once things really got hot around '64/'65, many artists were relegated to the back burner if they didn't immediately catch on.
Well, moving on, we can enjoy this wonderfully and surprisingly wistful song by another Motown artist you should "Discover.
