DC Motor Drives, Part I: Principle of armature voltage control, 25/11/2013
Following the previous videos on rectifiers and calculating the average value of the rectified voltage waveform, this video explains a practical application by looking at the concept of controlling the speed and torque of a DC motor by varying the armature voltage and fixing the field excitation. It also compares the modern dc drive with the obsolete classical method of switching resistors in and out of the armature circuit to vary the armature voltage.
