The story opens with a woman waking up on a vast island with a fantastic ocean view. She sets out to find out what happened before she encounters another woman who attempts to attack her; this is understandable, as neither woman understands what is happening or what they are experiencing.
While searching for clues, the two women encounter eight other people—four men and four women—making a total of ten. Unfortunately, none of them can remember what happened or where they are; the ten people question each other before one of them finds a clue on the back of each other's shirt collar: a name.
The first woman to wake up was named Chase (Natalie Martinez), followed by the second woman who wanted to attack Chase, named KC (Kate Bosworth), followed by the others named Cooper, Moses, Mason, Donovan, Taylor, Hayden, and finally Brody (Alex Pettyfer). After they learned each other's names, they began to become exhausted from the heat and rested.
While resting, one by one, they began to remember things, albeit fleetingly; these memories kept coming back. Chase, who began to sense something was strange, finally began to investigate his surroundings and was deeply confused when he found a suitcase containing drugs, a suitcase containing a gun, sharp objects, and a boat.
Chase's constant wanderings led the other nine to suspect he was the mastermind behind all this, as he seemed to know everything and wasn't afraid to explore. Sure enough, upon Chase's return, he was bombarded with questions that ultimately led to distrust.
The situation became chaotic, with killings occurring. Attacks, recruiting members, each claiming to be the leader, and the worst things often occurred. Chase, who always managed to survive in such dire situations, was the one who stood out. Then, after "waking up" from his long sleep, Chase realized something horrifying.
It turned out that the reason the 10 people had been on the uninhabited island for days was an experiment conducted by a prison called Texas Correctional. They were working to whitewash the fatal offenses committed by the ten people, including Chase.
They were deliberately put to sleep to enter a simulation. If the criminals improved after being in the simulation, they would be released. However, if they remained unchanged, the death penalty would be the outcome.
The Texas Correctional Center, upon learning that one of their research subjects had "woken up" in the middle of the simulation, was shocked. Nothing like this had ever happened before. Finally, after negotiations, Chase agreed to return to the simulation to solve the mystery and determine the true identity of the murderer who framed him, leading to his years in prison.
