In lecture 34, the topic of discussion was about coupling and cohesion in software engineering. Coupling refers to the level of interdependence between different modules or components of a software system. High coupling means that there is a strong relationship between modules, while low coupling means that modules have minimal interaction. Tight coupling means modules are heavily dependent on each other, while loose coupling means modules have minimal interdependence.

Different types of coupling were discussed, including data coupling, stamp coupling, control coupling, external coupling, common coupling, and content coupling. Data coupling is when modules share data, while stamp coupling is when data is passed between modules in a defined format. Control coupling is when one module controls the behavior of another module, while external coupling is when modules depend on an external source for their behavior. Common coupling is when modules share global data, while content coupling is when modules share information that is not necessarily related to their function.

The concept of cohesion was also discussed, which refers to the degree to which elements of a module are related to each other. High cohesion means that elements within a module are strongly related, while low cohesion means that elements are weakly related or unrelated. Logical cohesion means that elements perform a similar function, while functional cohesion means that elements perform a specific task or function.

Finally, the concept of information hiding was discussed, which refers to the practice of hiding the details of a module's implementation from other modules. This helps to reduce coupling and increase cohesion within a software system.
