Window technique in maxillary arch
Anterior flabby ridge pose problem in denture fabrication effecting stability ,retention and support of the denture
There are two ways to overcome it either by surgical means or by alteration in impression technique
This special technique is called window technique in which primary impression is done with alginate before impression making patient is advised to avoid wearing previous denture so that mucosa can be recorded in it's original contours
After fabrication of special tray flabby portion is marked intraorally and transferred on tray and window is created
Wash impression is made with zinc oxide
Impression of fabbly ridge is done with light body silicone with stock tray to stabilize impression
