In this video, I'll show one technique you can use to re-create the menu of the met site ( http://metmuseum.org ) as an exercice to practice widget visibility and dynamic panel skills.

This third technique uses a single dynamic panel with a different state for each submenu. Show / hide and "set panel state to state" interactions control which menu is displayed at any given time.
The difference from the second technique is that this one includes the main, horizontal menu inside the dynamic panel.

This technique is easy for novice Axure users because it requires fewer Axure features to get a fine result. I've often seen it used spontaneously by novice users and most of my own early prototypes used this technique. I share it as a good steping stone towards prototype slightly more complex behavior with a limited skillset. It's also good to know this approach for collaboration and teaching purposes.

This approach is more time consuming when iterating on the prototype and designers move to other techniques when iteration efficiency becomes a stake for them.

When using this technique, remember to use the "Bring panel to front" options to avoid the most common display issues.

In the next video, we'll have a look at a different technique that uses dynamic panels with the main menu bar inside the panel instead of above it.
