"Fire & Blood is impossible to adapt"
Surely folks will have polite discussions about this one! Just wanted to put together my thoughts regarding a popular sentiment on House of the Dragon as an adaptation of George RR Martin's Fire & Blood -- that it's impossible for HOTD to be a faithful adaptation since GRRM's book is filled with biased sources and alternative scenarios. It's a fake history book filled with in-universe speculation. However, there is still a core story behind the Dance of the Dragons, and George is quite obvious about the characterizations of Rhaenyra, Alicent, Helaena, and others. So I wanted to explain the difficult decisions Ryan Condal has had to make, and when they don't always work to me. After all, art is subjective and ripe for critiques, analysis, etc. Debating what works and what doesn't is part of the fun part, but many people are miserable if you dare praise the show (thus being a shill for HBO) or criticize the show (thus being a Negative Nancy farming hate). Crazy world. Maybe I just like yapping about stuff that interests me?
