I've put together a basic demo of what I consider a great option for linux power users that want a lean, fast, non-invasive, and no-frills GUI desktop environment. Notion is a "tiling" window manager, and can literally revolutionize the way you utilize your GUI desktop. I can share my configuration file or details from it with anyone that asks.
