Extend Your Growing Season With This Simple Cold Protection Method

On today's 2 minute garden tip, I show you how to extend your growing season with this simple cold protection method. I needed to protect my fall tomato plants from multiple hard freezes, but I didn't have much time. This easy, cheap cold protection method can be set up quickly in any yard.

Plants don't generate warmth. Covering plants with a frost blanket or row cover will only keep frost off. If temperatures drop below freezing, covers will freeze through, killing any frost sensitive plants underneath. An outdoor safe source of warmth must be provided. In this video, I used old-style C9 incandescent Christmas lights rated for outdoor use. They must be incandescent - LED lights do not give off significant warmth.
