Cross Region high availability in Azure Networking is now available with the Azure Load Balancer. This is the latest part of Azure High Availability in the networking stack. This Global Load Balancer is in preview today & lets you balancer cross region on top of your existing load balancers and easily expand into a new region.
So nothing changes in your current load balancer config, and a new cross region load balancer now lets you span multiple regions around the world with ease.
