Why LinkedIn Easy Apply Gets You Ghosted and What to Do Instead
Career transition coach Tony McBride explains why LinkedIn Easy Apply can lead to being ghosted, as recruiters often receive many low quality, poorly matched applications through LinkedIn and therefore prioritise candidates from company websites, referrals and niche job boards. He shares an example where LinkedIn labelled him a “top applicant” for a Workday solution architect role despite his lack of relevant experience, illustrating how the platform’s matching can encourage unsuitable applications that create noise for recruiters. His recommendation is to use LinkedIn to find roles, but apply off-platform by Googling the job and submitting your application directly on the company website when possible, which he says improves your chances of getting a response.
