!!NB!! Hey peeps there were some things I mentioned in this video that I've realized was either wrong or misleading in some ways. Take the 'Basic content settings' chapter of this video with a major grain of salt as this will really be up to your project and I was showing you what I normally did at the time. I would do a lot of things differently now.

Please make note of the below points.

NB1 : Directional Light Source Angle changes the size of the sun, therefore softening the shadows. So if you are ok with this, by all means make use of this option but if you need the sun at it's default size don't change this like I did in the video.

NB2 : Under Volumetric fog in your exponential height fog, don't set the Albedo to black I did in the video. This is something I realized I was doing wrong after making this video. I much prefer it left at white now. So leave it at white unless you have a good reason to change it.

NB3 : In your post process volume and/or project settings. Don't turn on/up everything related to raytracing, global illumination and quality settings in general as soon as you start the project. It will make things harder to build stuff as you add more and more stuff as you go. It is generally better to leave these settings as is, then turn them on towards the end of your build when you render stuff out etc. You can also make use of the engine scalability settings and DLSS plugin to help with editor performance when working on your level.

Wondering how you should set up your project for cinematic renders?
Have you been spending too much time going through the same settings and adding the same content whenever you start a new project?

In this video I go through the project settings and plugins I use to create high quality renders and how to create a template project. Use custom templates so you can save precious developing, learning time whenever you start a new project.

Project and content settings
00:00 Intro
00:37 Make a new project
01:09 Project Settings
02:57 Plugins
03:38 Adding basic content
04:54 Lock exposure
05:24 Basic content settings
10:14 Sky Atmosphere options
10:41 Increase shadow quality

Saving as a Template
11:21 Copy and Paste project folder
11:55 DefaultGame.ini file edit
12:20 TemplateDefs.ini file copy and edit
13:37 Test new template
