Creating a DIY Christmas nativity scene can be a great way to have fun with your family. It may seem difficult to say, but making one is really inexpensive, both in terms of cost and effort.
Helpful Tips
There are different types of polystyrene, which we'll define as "white" and "blue" to make things easier.
Blue Styrofoam is much better than "white" Styrofoam for several reasons. First, it's more compressed and compact, and unlike "white" Styrofoam, it doesn't crumble as easily; it's moldable and durable.
There are different types of Styrofoam; the one I used in the video differs from the more common and familiar type because it's denser and more durable. Specifically, if you cut it, you don't see the classic Styrofoam pellets, but rather a dense, uniform foam.
HIGH-DENSITY POLYSTYRENE
A dear YouTube friend of ours writes:
I use extruded polystyrene (polystyrene), and it can be glued with either PVA glue or hot glue. However, standard packaging Styrofoam (expanded polystyrene) also works well, and should be shaped with a pyrography tool. If you use hot glue, I recommend using a small gun (as shown in the video) rather than a large one, as they are more powerful and will overheat the glue, melting the Styrofoam.
