This video lays the foundation for the entire Microsoft SQL Server Training Course. It is an introductory video that discusses various basic terminologies related to the training session. The motive of the video is to develop a basic understanding of essential features used while harnessing a SQL server database.
Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system developed by Microsoft. As a database server, it is a software product with the primary function of storing and retrieving data as requested by other software applications—which may run either on the same computer or on another computer across a network including the Internet.
It is widely used because of the following three factors-
● Highly Scalable
● Fully web-enabled
● Fastest time to market
SQL Server Database is a collection of tables and objects returning values on SQL commands. The video then illustrates the syntax of the SQL database and then explains the types of database files. There are the following types of database files-
● MDF- Primary files
● NDF- Secondary files
● LDF- Logical files
SQL server tables are nothing objects in SQL server. The video also discusses the syntax for creating the tables.
Then the video instructs about SQL Datatypes which are Numerical, Character, and Date Time. You will then get to learn about the database as a part of the system architecture and its various syntaxes along with the structural architectural commands. You also get a fair idea about different versions and editions of SQL servers from the video. The next concept discussed is SQL server services and components and the fundamental principles governing its designs.
The next concept the video discusses is, the various basic tools of SQL server namely –

The next up is the concept of transaction log which contains log records produced during the logging process in a SQL Server database.
