Fort No. 5a "Lendorf" is a one-story small fort. The fortress is distinguished from other similar structures in Kaliningrad by its smaller size and fewer casemates. Fort "Lendorf" also lacks combat casemates. The dates of the fort's construction and a fragment of the coat of arms can be seen above the central entrance. During the Soviet era, the fort's grounds housed a fishing farm. Currently, it houses the "Vityazi" military-patriotic club, and the grounds are also leased to an airsoft club. Access to the interior is by prior arrangement.

There are differing accounts of the fort's name. Some believe it was named after Karl von Lehndorff, a Prussian general who took part in the war of liberation against Napoleon. Another version holds that the fort was named after Count Heinrich von Lehndorff (April 1, 1829 – April 25, 1905), a Prussian military bigwig and adjutant to Emperor Wilhelm I.
It is one of three lettered forts built during the modernization of the city's defensive belt in the late 1880s. Engineering-wise, it is a more simplified structure. The island, surrounded by water, contains only four casemates—one gorge and three floor-level. All the casemates are single-story, with no postern, meaning there are no underground passages between them, and no caponiers on the flanks.
In the mid-2000s, some crazy computer geek lived in the fort, harbouring a rather persistent theory of human existence, according to which a person is actually a computer. The heart is a processor, the brain is a modem, the lungs are a cooler, the face is a monitor, and so on. Well, not literally, but metaphorically, you know. And evil viruses rage around us, and through our brains, they can infect our hard drives, our souls, and the most important thing a person can do is resist the onslaught of viruses, that is, all sorts of human vices—you know, greed, anger, lies, and sodomy. Besides, the guy had a stash of "magic" wires that he could cast on someone, and he could immediately see how many viruses had already infected their soul. If I'm not mistaken, according to his version, there are 15 or 16 viruses in total, of which five are the most dangerous.
In those years, components and parts from computers from about 40 years ago were laid out (not scattered, but laid out!) in a specific order throughout the fort. Moreover, all of them were deliberately mangled and twisted, but they were laid out very neatly—for example, on the windowsills of almost every window in the gorge casemate. A cache of monitors from the 1980s was also discovered. What was most striking was that there was clearly a very precise system to this madness.
According to one version, in 2006 they were running a mushroom business and growing champignons, and then something went wrong.
